Julio suspects hotel manager Diego of playing a role in Cristina's disappearance and follows him to Cantaloa, where Julio gains an unexpected ally. Javier's lover is found murdered and Inspector Ayala takes over the investigation, while Alicia finds a disturbing letter in Diego's office. Inspector Ayala interrogates Julio about the murder of prostitute Jimena, while Alicia spies on Diego's henchman as he hands over blackmail money. Inspector Ayala finds a knife in Andrés's bed and suspects him of Jimena's murder and Cristina's disappearance. Pascual takes Alicia hostage. Julio finds items of Cristina's in Pascual's father's house, and Javier becomes embroiled in a love triangle with the daughter of an important guest. A third murder confirms the work of a serial killer; Javier seduces another daughter of General Herrera, leading to major consequences. The serial killer stabs another woman; in an effort to restore his family's honor, General Herrera challenges Javier to a duel. Javier shows up for his duel with General Herrera and Alicia discovers suspicious activity by Diego on the night that Cristina disappeared. Cristina tells Julio of a letter that contains a secret that would have major implications for the ownership of the Grand Hotel. Cristina wants to force Doña Teresa to hand over the letter, while Julio wants to leave the hotel with his sister, but tragedy kills both plans. Julio becomes determined to solve his sister's murder, while Diego returns to the hotel with the letter, demanding his job and fiancée back. Alicia and Julio's new life together is put on hold when Andrés tells Julio that Cristina's death was no accident, and Belén begins a new scheme. While Ayala's investigation centers on Sofía and Doña Teresa presumes the letter to be in Belén's hands, another full moon means another murder. Andrés survives nearly being electrocuted but is still at risk, and Julio discovers his ordeal may have been more than an accident. Doña Teresa tries to ensure that Belén will die giving birth to the child she must give up to Doña Teresa. Then, Belén and Andrés get a surprise. Andrés tells Julio about his and Belén’s secret second son, and Julio tells Alicia about the contents of the letter and the real heir to the hotel. Alicia finds the charred remains of her father's letter, which hold a piece of information that raises more questions than answers. Alfredo makes plans to return to his ancestral home, while Alicia discovers more suspicious facts surrounding her father's death. Julio and Alicia suspect that parties are trying to throw them off the trail in their investigation into Don Carlos's fake death certificate. Alfredo signs a contract securing him as manager, but it comes with a heavy cost, and Javier falls in love with the married Adriana. Julio is blackmailed by his former girlfriend, Cecilia, who threatens to identify him as a murderer, but Julio fights back with a plan of his own. Julio and Alicia meet at the cliffs, unaware they're being watched, and Inspector Ayala finds a shocking discovery in the bones of Don Carlos. Doña Teresa determines to curtail the romance between Javier and Adriana, and the anniversary of Don Carlos's death brings tension. Gonzalo becomes the focus of attention in the death of Don Carlos, while little Juanito becomes a pawn between Diego and Belén. Adriana's grown-up daughter Elena visits with malicious intentions. Alicia and Julio discover new information about the arsenic shipment signed for by Diego, and Sofía is involved in a stabbing death. A shadow descends upon the Grand Hotel when Doña Teresa gets word that Javier has been killed in combat. But Javier has survived. Teresa and Alicia want Andrés to return to the Grand Hotel in exchange for his compliance. Alicia and Julio discover a secret life insurance policy. Quiroga strikes a deal with Alfredo that might have big implications for the hotel, and Javier's court-martial takes a dark turn. Doña Teresa and Diego appear in court to discuss their roles in Don Carlos's death, and New Year's Eve ends with dire indications for the future. An explosion rips through the hotel, leaving many guests dead and injured, including Julio. Meanwhile, Alicia is missing. Sofía poses a threat, as she might confess to Beatriz's murder in trance; Alicia reappears under mysterious conditions in the vicinity of the hotel. Belén tries to regain Andrés's trust; Maite spots a chance to have Alicia's marriage to Diego annulled on grounds of bigamy. Diego keeps Alicia prisoner, trying to get his rival's name; Andrés wants Doña Ángela to give up her position as housekeeper and makes her his heir. Chief Inspector Bazán listens to Ayala's theory about the crimes; Sofía turns her new chambermaid into an ally, and they confront Padre Grau. Julio has barely regained consciousness when he's in mortal danger again; after spending the night with Sofía, Alfredo insists that she leave. Andrés is slowly beginning to have doubts about Belén; Cisneros's sister shoots Diego and frames Alicia for the crime. Diego wants to make a statement before the judge, but he collapses; cholera breaks out at the hotel; Cisneros convinces Doña Teresa that he loves her. Alicia is released; the cholera epidemic forces the hotel to go on lockdown; Ayala tells Diego that he knows about his real identity. After a dinner that Julio and Andrés have arranged for the four friends, Maite and Andrés exchange a kiss; Cisneros carries out his revenge on Diego.
